Orienteering

Orienteering is an adventurous, map-based treasure hunt where children race to find hidden checkpoints using a map and compass. Set in parks and woodland areas, it’s a fantastic mix of brain and body—requiring navigation, problem-solving, and movement. Kids work solo or in teams to explore, think on their feet, and experience the thrill of finding their next clue!

Map Reading

Understand symbols, scale, and terrain features to find checkpoints.

Compass Use

Learn to take bearings and navigate directions accurately.​

Route Planning

Collaborate with others to move safely and efficiently through the gorge.​

 

Independence

Build confidence navigating new areas with minimal assistance.

  • Comfortable outdoor clothing suitable for walking/running

  • Lightweight waterproof jacket (in case of rain)

  • Trainers or trail shoes with good grip

  • Sun hat / cap (if sunny)

3 / What you should bring
  • Refillable water bottle

  • Sunscreen

  • Small snack or packed lunch (if longer session)

  • Spare clothes (optional if weather is wet/muddy)

  • Enthusiasm and curiosity!
